Abstract

The international sale of goods is an increasingly signicant aspect of global trade. To facilitate crossborder transactions, the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods
(CISG) was developed to provide a uniform framework for governing international sales contracts. However, there are still
several challenges that need to be addressed in harmonizing international and domestic sales law, particularly in countries
such as India where the domestic law has not yet fully aligned with the provisions of the CISG. This paper provides
recommendations for improving the CISG and Indian sales law to promote a more cohesive and effective global sales law
regime. We identify key areas where the CISG and Indian sales law diverge, and propose potential solutions for harmonizing
the two frameworks.
